Did this really happen ?
I went for a range day, turned up at the appointed time at my local TA centre, was told that I'd missed the truck going to the range, but was issued with a rifle, ammunition, and told to make my own way to the range. So, one November morning I rode my motorbike through Birmingham to Kingsbury range in civvies with an SLR and 100 rounds of 7.62 ammo.
That day, as well as the SLR I fired a Sterling sub-machine gun, very odd, the thing pulled to the right, so when I loosed off a few rounds on automatic I nearly fell over backwards ! Lucky this was well known, so the magazine I was given only had 8 rounds in.
