The Heart of England
This is what the new super city comprising Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Sandwell, Coventry, Telford and Wrekin will be called. Another level of government to take more tax from us. What a heap of crap. The idea is to make a major power bloc responsible for transport, housing and improving skills. Improving skills ? Is that the same as education, or am I being dim ? Blimey, it took our socialist goverment only 8 years to come up with this, as the plan was first mentioned last year, when the name for the super city was going to be Greater Birmingham. I think a better name would be Taxmore. In the Good Old Days of the 80s when Maggie got rid of the tax-grabber that were the metropolitan county councils, abolishing the West Midlands county council along with the London County council. These came into being in 1974, and were happily abolished in 1986. Happy days, when intrusive government was being cut down to size and whole swathes of costly administrators were abolished with one fell swoop.
Now we have, once again, a burgeoning administration, and the highest taxes since ever in the history of the world, nay, probably the universe. But we're happy, povs and chavs are being showered with largesse, so bring it on ! Lets have many more tiers of government !
